Student Authorization for Release of Information
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits The University of North Carolina at Asheville from releasing non-directory information to anyone other than the student. However, the student may voluntarily waive the right to privacy by completing a Student Authorization for Release of Information form. By completing the form, the student grants the named person(s) access to the indicated information in the student’s educational record. Please note that some information cannot be given over the phone.

The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) added a section to the Truth In Lending Act to require that before a private educational lender may consummate a private education loan for a student in attendance at an institution of higher education, the private education lender must obtain the completed and signed Self-Certification Form from the applicant.

Summer Financial Aid

  • Please Note that your entire Summer Financial Aid Award is subject to change based on Federal and State Funding.
  • You must have a completed 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 FAFSA on file with the UNC Asheville Office of Financial Aid by April 1, 2011.
  • Summer session aid is contingent upon your eligibility for the Pell Grant and remaining eligibility from Federal Stafford Loans.
  • Complete the Summer Financial Aid Request Form and submit no later than April 15, 2011.
  • Notification of your Summer Awards will be sent via your UNC Asheville Email Address.
  • Due to the large volume of applicants we will not be able to determine your award (estimate or otherwise) until May 9, 2011.
