UNC Asheville Celebrates Family Weekend
The first weekend in autumn provided an inviting backdrop to UNC Asheville’s 2010 Family Weekend on September 24-26. More than 250 parents, grandparents and siblings participated in an assortment of activities designed to give a glimpse into life on campus.
“I heard from many, many families and students how much they appreciated having a September Family Weekend at UNC Asheville,” said Chancellor Ponder following the event.
Highlights of the weekend included coffee with Chancellor Ponder at the Janice W. Brumit Pisgah House; Back-to-Class sessions with noted faculty on topics ranging from poetry to human rights; a family picnic and concert on the Quad; contra dancing in Alumni Hall to the music of Blue Eyed Girl; and the annual Jewish Affinity Brunch.
UNC Asheville’s Family Weekend tradition was launched in 2003, and since then has become a part of the university’s traditional autumn activities.
