Singing at the White House

UNC Asheville Singers perform for the President and First Lady

(Jan. 3, 2013) The UNC Asheville Singers, directed by Assistant Professor Melodie Galloway, made their sixth holiday trip to the White House in December.

As in previous years, the ensemble also made a stop at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to meet with and sing for the "wounded warriors." This year, they were also invited to meet with and sing for Senator Kay Hagan and her staff.

For the previous five years, the Singers had performed in the White House atrium for VIP tours as part of the Holiday Open House. This time, they were invited to sing at a reception for dignitaries and special guests in the Diplomatic Reception Room, where they met the President and First Lady.
