Start Up Your Future at the UNC Asheville Career Center
(October 14, 2013)
It’s never too early or too late to contact the UNC Asheville Career Center about job opportunities – whether you are a student or an employer. The center works with students and alumni to navigate careers from the first steps on campus to the years beyond graduation. Services range from self-assessments and a career action plans to career counseling and job fairs. And while many services, such as job searches, are offered online, the in-person advice is just as important and accessible, with career counselors and career peers ready to help with any question.
The center also hosts a Graduate School and Job Fair each fall and an Internship and Job Fair in the spring, so students can learn about opportunities for on-the-job experience while they pursue their degrees. More than 200 students earn academic credit for their internships and experiential-learning each year, and 40 percent of students have a full-time job at or before graduation. Within one year of graduation, 88.7 percent of alumni have found employment.
The UNC Asheville Career Center also boasts impressive numbers with graduate schools, with a 95 percent acceptance rate for the students who apply.
