I want our students to get excited about the rest of the world and to allow that enthusiasm to inform their academic pursuits, their undergraduate research and even their career goals.”

—Mark Gibney, (Political Science, Belk Professor of Humanities) received the 2006 International Human Rights Award from the N.C. Human Rights Coalition. He was named 2008 visiting distinguished professor in the faculty of law at Lancaster University in England.
