Jennifer Mayer

Jennifer Mayer, Alumna 2004, owns and operates Charlotte Street Computers in Asheville with her husband Greg. She is also the brains behind two local nonprofits; E-Cycle Me and Power On Community. E-Cycle Me rebuilds donated computers for people in need. Power On Community raises money for nonprofits, in partnership with Asheville Community Theatre.

At UNC Asheville, Mayer recently donated $25,000 to Zeis Hall, complete with cutting-edge computers. “Spending marketing money on programs that give and inspire others trumps dropping it on traditional forms of media,” Mayer said.

One of the UNC Asheville professors that Mayer credits is Psychology professor Pam Laughon: “She was interesting because she didn’t have anything to gain,” Mayer said. “Oftentimes the people that impact you the most are the people that shared with you something they didn’t realize they were sharing. She impacted the way I think about the world through what she taught.”
