Faces of UNC Asheville
Nate Corbitt
Campus Visit Coordinator
Born and raised in Central Illinois, my affinity for the Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame Football stems from my very large Irish Catholic family (my father is the oldest of fifteen kids) and began at an early age. I went to my first baseball game at Wrigley Field when I was three years old, and I have been back probably close to a hundred times since.
Now living in Asheville, the devotion to my beloved Cubbies is being passed on to my children. (Needless to say, I won’t be winning any Father of the Year awards on that front.) While still considered a "Yankee" by my Southern friends, co-workers, and in-laws, I have developed an affinity for much of the Southern culture, particularly Southern delicacies like banana pudding, Krispy Kreme Donuts, & North Carolina barbecue.
A graduate of Appalachian State University (where I worked as a Resident Assistant under current UNC Asheville Dean of Admissions, Jackie McHargue), prior to coming to work for UNC Asheville, I worked in Retail Loss Prevention for Checkpoint Systems, travelling around the Southeast to all 200+ Ingles Supermarkets. I joined UNC Asheville as a temp in the summer of 2007, starting in the Office of Residential Education and Housing Operations before moving on to the Office of Student Activities, Involvement, and Leadership. I was hired permanently in the Admissions Office in June 2008 as an Administrative Support Associate. In September 2012 I assumed the role of Campus Visit Coordinator.
I look forward to helping you plan your visit to UNC Asheville. It is my goal that each student who visits the campus will find an experience that compels him or her to learn more about our excellent University. I want you to see for yourself what makes UNC Asheville one of the premier liberal arts colleges in the country.
