Faces of UNC Asheville
Director of School and Community Outreach Programs and Partnerships
Greetings and ever so many thanks for your interest in UNC Asheville – you will not be disappointed! My name is Annie L. Burton, a native New Englander who absolutely adores North Carolina, particularly Asheville and its surrounding areas. I was born and raised in Boston and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Cum Laude from Harvard University. A first-generation college graduate, I credit teachers and other educational providers with providing me with the opportunities and venues to even consider higher education as an option.
One cannot place a dollar value on getting a good, quality education nor refute the importance that academia can play to make a college education accessible and affordable to aspiring new students. I have over fifteen years of experience in fundraising, public relations, program development and strategic planning in higher education. My role as Director of School and Community Outreach Programs and Partnerships is an extraordinary opportunity for the university to promote and expand its educational programs, services and access to UNCA to all segments of the local and regional community. Our mission is to ensure that UNCA becomes the region’s higher education destination.
I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be a member of the UNC Asheville community and now proudly hail” Go Bulldogs!”
