Accessing Student Webpages
Summer of 2005 the UNCA
Information Technology Services (ITS) replaced the web server
that is responsible for hosting the webpages for the students of
the Department of Education. The following is procedures for
accessing the student webpages on the new server.
Accessing a website using MS FrontPage
-
Select
Start | Programs | Microsoft Office | Microsoft Office FrontPage
2003

If
you are prompted for a username and password at this point
select Cancel.

Select
File | Open Site...
-
Enter the web name
for your website. Example:
http://students.unca.edu/username
- Enter your username in the
form of:
underdognet\username

Enter your password (same as the password used with the UNCA
OnePort account).
If
access is denied:
-
Check the spelling of the username and the direction of the
"slash". The correct "\" key is located above the right
"enter" key.

Change your
UNCA
OnePort password then wait twenty
minutes before trying to access the account again.

WinSCP
What is
WinSCP?
WinSCP is an open source SFTP client for Windows. Its main
function is the secure file transfer between a local and a
remote computer. Beyond this, WinSCP offers basic file
manager functionality. It uses Secure Shell (SSH) and
supports, in addition to Secure FTP, also legacy SCP
protocol. NOTE: This
application is a UNCA ITS recommended SFTP replacement for
WS-FTP.
