Overview of the Internet – history, what it is, browsers, entering URLs, using bookmark
Finding information on the Internet – using search engines, yellow and white pages

Sept. 25
Using features – using maps, advanced searching, and email
FTP, gopher, and telnet

Oct. 2
Newsgroups and mailing lists
Multimedia objects and chat rooms

Evaluation

Participants can receive one CEU credit for this course. Participants are asked to choose a topic of interest and find information on the Internet about the topic. They are to create and turn in an annotated list of URLs, a newsgroup, and a mailing list on their topic. Students are to email the instructor. Students are to participate during class, performing tasks as directed.
