Dr. Jeff Konz

Associate Professor and Chair of the Economics
Department. Dr. Konz earned a B.A. in Political Science from Iowa State University, a M.A. in International Relations from the University of Kentucky, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Konz teaches Macroeconomics, International Economics, Economic Development, Humanities, and Ethics and Social Institutions. His research interests include Post Keynesian macroeconomic theory, the history of economic thought, and ethics and economics. His current research is in Post Keynesian business cycle theory, specifically the connections between the approaches to the business cycle of Michal Kalecki and John Maynard Keynes, and developing a manuscript on the ethics of economics. Jeff is also the Coordinator of UNCAs program in Ethics and Social Institutions, which combines elements of philosophy, economics, political science, sociology, and other areas. www.unca.edu/esi. In his spare time, Dr. Konz is a singer with Pastyme, a local professional singing group, and the choir of the Episcopal Cathedral of All Souls. He also enjoys gardening, brewing his own beer, and spending time with his son Nicholas, his daughter Flora, and his wife Louly, an art historian.
