David Reiner

So you think you're too old to learn? Well, think again! David Reiner was a retired radiologist who in 1980 at age eighty, decided to pursue an economics degree. He graduated in 1983 and remains the university's oldest graduate. Dr. Reiner was so pleased with the students he met that he not only endowed the two David Reiner awards, but he also endowed a general scholarship. When he died in 1987, his brother, Joseph, started a scholarship in David's name.

Other information about David Reiner. He participated in World Wars I and II. In WWI he was a conscripted soldier. In WWII he volunteered to serve as a doctor, despite the fact that he didn't have to (he was considered "exempt" in part because of his age).
