Got Questions?
We've got answers:
What is the
senior gift? Beginning in 2006, the Senior Campaign has moved
away from the single gift to donors supporting the department or program
that matters the most to them. This way, the Senior Campaign recognizes
that the senior class consists of individuals with a diverse range of
interest. In 2008, the Senior Campaign raised gifts for 52 different
campus departments and programs.

Where
does my money go? You decide what you gift
will support by designating a department or program
when you make your gift. Or, you can donate to the Chancellor's Excellence Fund
which supports the University's greatest needs such as diversity
initiatives, financial aid or faculty research.

Will my gift really make a
difference? When combined with gifts from others, your
gift of any size has a tremendous impact, helping students
attend UNC Asheville, sustaining the high quality of our curriculum,
and providing other vital support.

Can my gift honor a professor, parent or
partner?
Yes. We will send up to two tribute cards for every $25 you give to the
Senior Campaign. The card does not specify the gift amount or
designation, but does let the honoree know that you made a gift in their
honor in
appreciation for their support and encouragement during your
time at UNC Asheville.

I paid tuition; haven't I already given enough? At most colleges, the
cost of education is higher than tuition. At UNC Asheville, tuition
and fees only covers around 20% of actual costs. As a student, you benefited
tremendously from the generosity of others.
Approximately
57% of students received some form of financial aid--thanks in part to
the generosity of our donors.

Isn't the University state funded;
why does it need my support?
In 2007, the State generously provided 34% of the University's
operating budge. This year we still have state support, but with a
significant decrease. UNC Asheville must raise funds each year to maintain
our high educational standards while remaining affordable to current
and prospective students. Gifts bridge the gap between state funding, tuition revenue,
and the operating budget.

What will my gift do?
In addition to providing vital support for campus programs, your gift
will count toward the percentage of alumni support for the year. Foundations and other potential
donors consider alumni,
faculty, and staff giving before awarding grants.
They are more likely to award grants to UNC Asheville when our own
family supports our institution. In addition, alumni
satisfaction--measured by the percentage of alumni who make a gift
to the
University annually--is used to calculate national rankings by
U.S. News & World Report.

What is the
deadline to contribute to the 2010 Senior Campaign? You should turn in your gift
by April 15, 2010, so that we can send your honoree cards before
commencement and include your name in the campaign celebration that
will be in the final issue of The Blue Banner. Gifts received
after April 15, but before June 30, will still count toward the campaign
total, but we can't process that they will be processed for
commencement.
