Managing Accounts and Passwords for UNCA Faculty and Staff

All faculty and staff will receive two accounts:

  • An Admin email account
  • A Bulldog domain account 

    Passwords are pre-expired on new accounts and once set will need to be reset every 90 to 180 days.  Your initial password is your employee id.


Setting passwords from your PC:

1. Click on Start (in the bottom left hand corner of  your screen), 
2. Click on Run (from the pop up menu). 
3. In the Run window, type the following: telnet admin.unca.edu or telnet bulldog.unca.edu and then click OK. 
4. Provide your user name and password
5. Follow the instructions to change your password.

  • ADMIN will present a menu with password change as an option  (type PASS)
  • On the Bulldog server, type passwd and follow the instructions. 

 

A change of password on the Bulldog server will change your domain password.

A change of password on ADMIN will only change the ADMIN password.     Please read more about the authentication project.
