Healing in Judaism Over the course of the coming months, we will be posting information here and adding links to sites of interest pertaining to healing in Judaism. Check back with us periodically to see what we've added! For now, try visiting some of these sites: Elat Chayim: A Center for Healing and Renewal Aleph: the Jewish Renewal Network Fast to Feast: Adam's Hanukkah in the Garden of Eden-- A Jewish Healing Midrash from the Talmud
When Adam saw the day getting gradually shorter, he said: "Woe is me, perhaps because I have sinned, the world around me is being darkened and returning to a state of chaos and confusion; this then is the death to which I have been sentenced from Heaven!" So he began an eight-day fast. But as he observed the winter equinox and noted the days getting increasingly longer, he said: "This is the world's course," and he set forth to keep an eight-day festivity. Talmud, Avodah Zarah 8A reprinted from The Outstretched Arm, Volume 5, Issue 3, Fall 1996, a publication of the National Jewish Healing Center
