A course for the general student with laboratory covering the solar system, constellations, the evolution of stars, cosmology and contemporary topics in astronomy. Additional topics include celestial mechanics, fundamental forces in nature, atomic spectra, relativity, stellar nuclear reactions and quarks. Satisfies the General Education laboratory science requirement. Fall and Spring.
