Job Outlook 2008
The National Association of Colleges
and Employers (NACE) publishes an annual report of hiring trends and
hiring practices of employers. Learn what qualities employers are
seeking in new hires! The Career Center is a member of NACE
and receives Job Choices Magazines. Come Visit if you are
interested!

LEXIS-NEXIS
Use this powerful web site containing over 6000 newspapers and magazines to
research potential employers and review annual reports. The Ramsey
Library has subscribed to this resource, so you should be able to link
directly to LEXIS-NEXIS from on-campus computers. You can access the
site from off-campus, it will simply ask for your name and password which is
usually your social security number followed by a one on the end.

Mentor Network Program
Contact UNCA Alumni who are currently working in
their career field to gain first hand knowledge of what it takes to be
successful in your job search. Learn what employers are looking for in new

Uncover unique and exciting job/internship

While not specifically job listings,
E-Leads
can help
liberal arts students identify leads to organizations with possible internship and job
openings over this next year. This is a specialized on-line employment directory
developed by eleven colleges and universities in North Carolina, and is
available only to students at those institutions. To access
E-Leads
from an off-campus computer, email your name and SSN to career@unca.edu.
Recruiting Events
Each fall, the Career Center organizes a Career
Fair which brings employers, graduate schools and government agencies
to campus. All students are encouraged to attend this event to explore career
options, internship possibilities and employment opportunities. During the
spring semester, connect with employers during special recruitment events such
as the Summer Employment Fair and Networking Events.

Resume-writing and Job Search Strategies Advice
The "Resume Basics" booklet is a FREE
handout which provides general guidelines for creating a resume along with
examples from previous students. The Career Center staff is also available to
critique resumes/cover letters resume and to discuss possible job search
strategies.
We have trained Volunteer Career Advisors
from the community to assist with Resume Review and Cover Letter Assistance.
They are wonderful individuals with a wealth of "real world"

Brush up on your interviewing skills by arranging a
video-taped mock interview. Invaluable preparation for internship or full-time
