(September 20, 2013)
Family Weekend, September 20-21, includes a picnic on the Quad and a reception at Chancellor Anne Ponder’s residence, as well as a chance to sit in on Back-to-Class session with UNC Asheville faculty and staff.
There are several Back-to-Class sessions to choose from, including:
- Psychology and the Law: Learn how UNC Psychology Department Chair Pam Laughon and her students produced evidence leading to the release of any innocent man who had spent more than a decade on death row.
- Consequences of a Life Chronicled Online: Sonya DiPalma, assistant professor of mass communication, provides an understanding of how social media platforms can help and hinder a career.
- The Place of Values in a College Education: Should a university be values-neutral? This presentation offers the professorial and parental perspectives of Merritt Moseley, chair of the Department of Literature and Language, and father of two UNC Asheville graduates.
Join us for these and other planned activities, and there is plenty of time for the main attraction – a visit with your student – and time to explore downtown Asheville and the mountains.
