11/22/2009 And a Child Shall Lead, by Michael Slade Directed by students Virginia Aughe and Sam Woods. The play is based on true accounts of a group of children forced to live in a concentration camp in Terezin, Czechlosovakia during the Holocaust. The play revolves around the children's efforts to keep humanity and the arts alive even in the midst of their struggles against hunger, disease, and the ever-present threat of death. This uplifting story is made even more inspiring by the inclusion of poems and stories written by prisoners who were subjected to the all-too-real Terezin concentration camp.

2/24/2010 The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, by Naomi Wallace Directed by Lise Kloeppel. This play is set in a generic town outside a city somewhere in the United States in 1936, and play focuses around two teenagers, Dalton Chance and Pace Creagan. They have no hopes for the future - Pace says, "You're not going to college. None of us are going to college." The only thing these teens can pit their wits against in their dead-end town hit hard by the depression is the seven-ten train that crosses the Trestle at Pope Lick Creek. You have to run across the trestle - towards the oncoming train. If you don't make it before the train hits the trestle, there are no safety sides, and you're a hundred feet above a dry creek.

2/27/2010 The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, by Naomi Wallace Directed by Lise Kloeppel.

4/21/2010 The Trojen Women, by Euripides, translated by Diskin Clay Directed by Rob Berls. The Trojan Women was the third tragedy of a trilogy of dealing with the Trojan War. The first tragedy, Alexandros, was about the recognition of the Trojan prince Paris who had been abandoned in infancy by his parents and rediscovered in adulthood. The second tragedy, Palamedes, dealt with Greek mistreatment of their fellow Greek Palamedes. This trilogy was presented at the Dionysia along with the comedic satyr play Sisyphos. The plots of this trilogy were not connected in the way that Aeschylus' Oresteia was connected. Euripides did not favor such connected trilogies. The four Trojan women of the play are the same that appear in the final chapter of The Ilead, lamenting over the corpse of Hector. Taking place near the same time is Hecuba, another play by Euripides.
