Dr. Betsy Wilson,
Associate Professor and Departmental Chair. Ph.D.,
University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill.
Prior to coming to UNCA, Dr.
Wilson was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department
of Microbiology and genetics in the School of
Medicine at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill, and she was a staff fellow in the
genetics laboratory at the National Institute of
Environmental Health Sciences. She has been at UNCA
since 1985. Her research interests are focused on
DNA replication and repair. She has been
investigating two genes from the yeast
Saccharomyces cerevisiae, RAD18 and POL1, whose
products are involved in yeast DNA metabolism. The
investigation of these genes and their products
involves application of techniques from
biochemistry, genetics, and molecular
biology.
