Jim Petranka,
Professor.
Ph. D., University of Kentucky.
Before arriving at UNCA in
1988, Dr. Petranka held positions as a research
professor from 1984-86 at the University of
Kentucky and a National Science Postdoctoral Fellow
from 1986-88 at the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. His academic training has focused on
general ecology, behavioral ecology, and evolution.
His current research interests include restoration
ecology of freshwater wetlands, community
organization along hydrological gradients, and the
conservation biology of amphibians.
