A Special Invitation for UNC Asheville Alumni to Biltmore
February 18, 11:00 a.m.
You are invited to
two very special tours of The Biltmore Estate, hosted by Chief
Curator and fellow alumnus Darren Poupore (Class of 1992). Darren
and his colleague Bill Alexander, Biltmore’s Landscape & Forest
Historian, welcome you to enjoy one of two special tours of Biltmore
and learn about the estate from the perspective of the museum and
landscape professional.
New Rooms Tour:
Darren will lead a group through a collection of new rooms under
renovation over the library. He will discuss the research,
conservation, reproduction, and construction processes of what will
become some of Biltmore’s most extraordinary rooms.
Gardens and Conservatory Tour: Avid gardeners will
not want to miss Bill’s behind-the-scenes tour of the gardens and
conservatory as the landscape staff prepares for spring. He will
talk about the challenges of maintaining a living museum which stays
true to Frederick Law Olmstead’s extraordinary vision.
Both tours are special tours
being given only to UNC Asheville alumni. They are not available to
the general public.
So that participants may enjoy the benefits of such an
intimate tour, each tour is limited to 20 people.
Alumni may only participate in one of the
tours because they will be presented at the same time.
Tickets are only $20 and provide access that day to all of Biltmore,
in addition to a special tour. Alumni may purchase a ticket for
themselves and up to one guest (2 tickets total). Tickets will be
sold first-come first served.
Tickets must be purchased by credit/debit card on-line at the
following addresses. They are not available through Biltmore.
