The University of North Carolina system has a stated commitment to encouraging and facilitating interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration among its institutions. The UNC Asheville Graduate Center is the key in Western North Carolina to these partnerships with other institutions. Formal collaborations between North Carolina institutions include UNC Asheville, Appalachian State University, Western Carolina University, and NC State University. The Asheville Graduate Center has a variety of less formal alliances with other higher education institutions.
