Asheville Graduate Center
Welcome to the Asheville Graduate Center, housed on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Asheville. UNC Asheville's mission is fulfilled, in part, through our responsibility for and leadership of the Asheville Graduate Center. The Asheville Graduate Center is an important complement to our core mission- providing an outstanding undergraduate experience for traditional-aged college students. Our ability to respond rapidly to greater Asheville depends, to a great degree, on the Asheville Graduate Center to provide masters and doctoral programs, distance education and online courses. The Asheville Graduate Center serves the post-graduate, professional, extension/distance and continuing education needs of Western North Carolinians including:
- Graduate degree programs from four universities, from the master’s level to Ph.D. degree.
- Extension/Distance Education, which includes online courses and extension/distance classes, Great Smokies Writing Program, Correctional Education, and Lateral Entry Teacher Initiative.
- Test preparation courses for standardized tests such as the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Law School Admission Test (LSAT), and Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
- Teacher Training programs such as the Lateral Entry program and Effective Teacher Training/ Substitute Teacher Training courses.
- Professional education or special training for attorneys, accountants, city employees and other professions as requested.
The Asheville Graduate Center continually evaluates and updates its course offerings to meet the needs of Western North Carolina residents. Our staff welcomes your suggestions and ideas for future degree and program offerings.
