The Master of Arts in Educational Media with a concentration in Instructional Technologies/Computers is designed for K-12 educators and administrators who want to combine studies in both instruction applications and computer technologies. The award-winning degree program provides an innovative blending of learning opportunities in the design, production, application, and evaluation of a broad range of media and technology. Students are encouraged to pursue work in both traditional and emerging technology related to all aspects of educational media. Graduates of the program will be prepared to assume leadership roles in various fields of media and technology. This program offers North Carolina 077 M teacher licensure and 079 (Technology Facilitator) endorsement. Add-on certification is also possible for teachers who currently hold M licensure.
Requirements for this degree were designed and have been approved by the appropriate bodies at the state level, to meet the advanced competencies as mandated in the North Carolina Excellent Schools Act for master’s level teacher education programs. All content and nearly all of the interactions with students are housed in an innovative online learning environment called AET Zone, a 3-D virtual world for learning. It has been recognized as a significant and innovative educational technology initiative.
