Appalachian State University offers three master’s degree programs through the Asheville Graduate Center—

  • the master’s in instructional technology
  • geography/land planning
  • library science (K–12).

These programs are offered through ASU’s Division of Extension and Distance Education. The dean of the Cratis D. Williams Graduate School at ASU is responsible for the admission of all graduate students. All degree seeking students taking graduate courses must make formal application to the Graduate School prior to enrolling in any graduate coursework.

The Master of Arts in Educational Media with a concentration in Instructional Technologies/Computers provides an innovative blending of learning opportunities in the design, production, application, and evaluation of a broad range of media and technology.

The Certificate in Community and Regional Planning is offered through the Department of Geography and Planning at ASU.

The Master of Library Science in Library Science, General/Concentration in School Libraries is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the North Carolina Department of Instruction.
