Academic Planning
In order to succeed, you need to make deliberate, carefully considered choices about your future by adopting a "big picture" plan. Your academic advisor can be your best resource for academic planning, but the responsibility to make the most of your advising relationship ultimately lies with you.
What is academic planning?
Academic planning encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities. Below are some tools to help break this responsibility down into manageable parts.
| Recommended 1st Year Courses by Major | Get a jumpstart on your major! If you're unsure about which major you want to pursue, browse through different academic departments. You will get a sense of which courses you need to plan to take to get started on any of our majors. |
| Degree Progress Advising Report (DegPAR) |
DegPAR removes the guesswork from tracking your academic progress. You can run "what if" analyses if you are considering various academic majors and/or minors. |
| Academic Calendar | Be sure to note academic deadlines (add/drop, withdrawal, graduation application, etc.) in your daily planner! |
| Schedule Planner | Use this when creating your semester schedule to ensure your class schedule doesn't conflict with other responsibilities. |
| 4-year Academic Planner | Completing some majors require careful coordination - especially since some of their courses aren't offered every semester! Use this resource to make sure you can take the courses you need in a timely manner. |
