Meet the SOAR Staff!

Calley Stevens Taylor SOAR Program Director

I graduated from UNC Asheville with a Bachelor's in Psychology with a Sociology minor. After graduation, I went to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville for my Master's Degree in College Student Personnel.
I've been working at UNC Asheville in Advising & Learning Support since March 2005. In addition to my job duties, which include advising, academic support, LSIC Peer Mentors, and SOAR (of course!) I'm particularly interested in the academic experiences of under-represented groups, ethics in higher education, student responsibility, and student-faculty communication.
I like to run and hike, read, work in the garden, quilt, go downtown and to local restaurants.
Ryan Moton SOAR Community Director

Ryan came to UNC Asheville after receiving his masters in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Ryan hails from Cleveland, OH where he graduated from Cleveland Central High school in 2000, and then he attended Mercyhurst College in Erie PA.
One of Ryan’s favorite quotes is “I may not change the world but I will spark the mind that changes the world.”
Precious Barksdale SOAR Intern

I'm a sophomore sociology major and I'm involved in BSA (Black Student Association), the Divine Ladies, Intervarsity, and the NUE NOIZ Step Team.

I was a SOAR student in 2007 and a SOAR Mentor in 2008. I think SOAR in an excellent program that aids in the preparation of a wonderful college experience at UNC Asheville.
