For High School Counselors
UNC Asheville – Right size, right price, right place
When you’re looking for the right match for college-bound students, direct them to UNC Asheville. Not every student is looking for a mega-sized campus. In fact, most students want a college experience where they won’t get lost in the crowd and can have more opportunities to learn, grow, and stand out.
UNC Asheville is one of the best-kept secrets in North Carolina education, offering the rigorous academics of a private school — at an affordable public school price. Part of the University of North Carolina system, UNC Asheville is the state’s only public liberal arts university. And our mission is to prepare students for the broad opportunities they’ll find in the marketplace.
What kind of student will fit in at UNC Asheville? Most of our students graduated in the top 50% of their high school class with SAT scores ranging from 1070-1250. We find they are independent thinkers, curious learners and service volunteers. Other than that, it’s hard to describe our typical student because they represent a wide diversity of interests and passions.
Our students choose UNC Asheville for the personal attention they find here with smaller classes and a focus on undergraduate education. With an integrated core curriculum, we help students master complex concepts, then apply what they learn in practical internships, independent study projects, community service and study abroad. Of course, students have plenty to keep them occupied outside of class with clubs, sports, recreation and culture.
We invite you to discover the value of UNC Asheville — and then share it with your students.
