Welcome! 

My name is Melinda, and I am both an alumnus of UNC-Asheville and an Admissions Counselor.  Originally from Longboat Key, Florida, I have loved calling Asheville home for the last four years. 

Born into a family committed to the arts, I have explored a variety of creative methods including theater, opera stage production, playing the cello, and fine art.  Spending much of my childhood performing live theater, I then found a decade-long passion for the cello.  From 1999 to 2001, I became involved with the Sarasota Opera in both youth and main stage productions.  While attending college, I found my true niche in the school's art department.  Continuing my studies with such institutions as Penland School of Crafts and Ringling School of Art and Design, I made the decision to fully dedicate myself to the visual arts at UNC Asheville. 

In May, I completed my degree and was so pleased with the level of commitment and opportunity the school offered me that I joined the admissions team in an effort to return the favor to other students.
