UNC Asheville's Common Application FAQ'S
Why is UNC Asheville using The Common Application?
Many students who apply to UNC Asheville also apply to other schools who already participate in The Common App; we anticipate that including the Common App as another application option will streamline the college application process for many of our students.
Who can apply using the Common App?
Only freshmen and transfer students may apply using the Common App.
Will all students applying to UNC Asheville have to use the Common App, or will UNC Asheville still have their current application as well?
UNC Asheville will continue to offer both The Common Application and the application provided through The College Foundation of N.C. Applicant's may submit either application for admission to UNC Asheville.
Do I still send my application materials to UNC Asheville, or do I send them elsewhere?
All application materials should still be sent to UNC Asheville. Our mailing address is:

Will the application fee remain the same?
Yes. The application fee is $50 for all applicants.. This is a non-refundable processing charge and does not apply to any other university fee.
Will my application be reviewed any differently now that UNC Asheville is using the Common App?
No; our application review process will remain the same.
Will UNC Asheville still review the applications, or does the Common Application have their own readers?
UNC Asheville will still read all of our applications using the same review process that is currently in place.
Are my chances greater to be admitted based off the Common Application?
No; our application review process will remain the same.
Will it take longer to review my application with the Common App?
No; our timeline for turning around admissions decisions will not change.
Will the application deadline change?

Will UNC Asheville still have an Early Response option?
Yes; UNC Asheville will still have a non-binding early action deadline for those students that submit all of their completed application materials by November 15.
Will there be a supplemental portion to the application? If so, what will it entail?
Yes; the UNC Asheville supplement will include all questions on our current application which are not a part of the Common App.
Are recommendation letters still going to be required?
Yes; we will still require recommendations from all applicants.
Will it be easier to apply to UNC Asheville now?
Yes! We anticipate that this change will make it much easier for our prospective students to apply to UNC Asheville. We feel that including the Common App as another application option will streamline the college application process for many of our students.
When will the 2011 application be available?
The Common App for 2011 will be available on August 1, 2010.
