College for Seniors (CFS)

Volunteer Opportunites

As CFS is volunteer-driven, there are numerous possibilities for volunteer opportunities in the various subcommittees that govern CFS:

  • Class Representatives: Helps new members get acclimated to the Center, insures that classes run smoothly, and assists instructors in class. Contact Jacque Morgan (jacquemo@charter.net)  and Anita Shields (shields828@gmail.com).
  • Curriculum: Develops, implements, and evaluates the curriculum taught in the College for Seniors. Our largest subcommittee, it works closely with faculty to provide a rich offering of classes. Contact Kathy Tempelaar-Lietz (kathytl@bellsouth.net) and Gail Sobel (gnsobes@charter.net).
  • Faculty Appreciation: Members plan and host events to honor our faculty. Contact Ulana Mellor (ulana.mellor@charter.net) and Dayle Boyd (barterbrook@bellsouth.net)
  • Faculty Development: Collaborates with the Curriculum and Small Group Learning subcommittees to recruit prospective new instructors. Mentors and evaluates new instructors. Plans and organizes delivery of faculty workshops to enhance teaching skills. Contact George Rogers (vedalite@bellsouth.net).
  • Research and Development: Conducts primary and secondary research to seek information and data useful for CFS and NCCCR programming. Contact Steve Schleifer (ss.ash@hotmail.com).
