Margaret Aydelotte

Margaret Aydelotte grew up in England and studied at Cambridge University, specializing in physiology and developmental biology (B.A.1956, Ph.D. 1961). She enjoyed 40 years of teaching and research, first at Cambridge University, and then in this country at the University of Iowa, Indiana University and Rush Medical College, Chicago, from which she retired as Professor Emeritus of Biochemistry. She taught developmental and microscopic anatomy to medical, dental and graduate students, and undergraduate courses in physiology, cell biology and embryology. Her research focused on skeletal development and the causes of malformations, and most recently on the nature of osteoarthritic changes in joints.

Margaret and her husband, James, retired to Asheville in 1998 and have been active in the Center for Creative Retirement and the College for Seniors. Margaret enjoys music, quilting and genealogy.
