Doug Agor

Doug Agor has lived here in the Asheville area for four years. Prior to that he lived and worked in Northern New York State on the Canadian Border approximately forty five miles south of Montreal, Canada. He was a teacher at Northeastern Clinton Central School, working primarily with Juniors and Seniors. He also taught writing  and  literature classes at Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY for over forty semesters. Part of that time was spent teaching classes on the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. There he had the chance to teach in the fire station on the flight line as well as other classrooms on base. He also taught at Dannemora State Prison and Altona State prison in the Inmate Higher Education Program. He taught English for thirty six years before retiring and moving to Fletcher.

He has been involved with the NCCCR almost from the time he came down here. First it was taking course, later volunteering as a member of the Curriculum Committee serving on the History/Current Issues subcommittee. Now he is also Co-Chairperson of the College For Seniors Committee as well as being a member of the College Steering Council.

Recipe for Poetry is the first class he has taught at the Reuter Center. He has enjoyed taking several classes at the Reuter Center and appreciates the volunteers who create the classes and teach them.
